Cedarvale Ranch in Hillsboro, Montana

Hello Everyone, here is the final addition to our last camping trip of 2018.
Our campground was in Wyoming but only a short 30-45 minute drive to Montana where the remnants of the Cedarvale Ranch still stand.
Be fore warned that there are a lot of pictures for this one.

They let you know the length of your hike.
It's funny, because it was a harder hike going down to the town than it was going back to the truck on the same trail. I had to stop a couple of times on the way down and none on the way back.

Each one of the signs has a bench to relax on if you don't want to take the full hike.

This is one of the old corral and stable areas.

We couldn't get a good picture of the inside of the root cellar but had a place to hang thing, and lots of bins and a few shelves left over.

You can see where the forge once sat in the corner.

 

 This bench is where Eddy Hulbert was said to do his silver work.

This is where the Barry's home once stood. It burned down during the winter of 1947-48.

There are a couple of picnic tables and this double sided bench that tells of the Cedarvale Ranch on one side and has a map of the ranch on the other side.

It's neat place to visit if your into old towns and ranches like we are.

Bighorn Canyon & Ewing-Snell Historic Ranch

I'm back with the second post from our camping trip.
On Sunday Sept. 29th the second day of our camping trip we took a drive to the Bighorn Canyon.

Then we drove over to the Ewing-Snell Historic Ranch in Montana.

There wasn't a whole lot of things to see, but it is always amazing to see old historic places.

 

We also saw the group of does and fawns.

Horseshoe Bend Campground

Hello Friends, Hope all is well with you.

 

That snow on October 13, if I recall right in the 25 years that we have lived here, is the earliest we have gotten snow. It dropped 3" worth, but only lasted two days after it was done. 

Usually it doesn't snow until around Halloween.

Here is our last camping trip on Sept. 28-30, 2018

We went back down to Wyoming and stayed at the Horseshoe Bend Campground 20 miles outside of Lovell, WY. This was a first as the campground had electrical hookups, but the water was shut off at the beginning of September thru May. It was $25 a night for the electric sites and $10 a night for no hookups. They also have a dump station and water fill up, but they close those Sept. - May also.

If you open the picture you can see our white 5th wheel, It's the ONLY one in the whole campground. That's right we had the whole place to ourselves and only had two other campers (a pop-up and a motor home) stop overnight the first day. They were both gone before noon.

There were lot's of beautiful views and even though it was chilly we walked around the campground, my hubs taking campsite pictures for his camping blog and later me getting the scenery shots.

We were treated to another beautiful Wyoming sunset on our first night.

When I was out walking around the rocks and juniper bushes I found plenty of these spiny guys just waiting to stab you.

 

Look at the spines on those suckers, some were close to 2" long. 

Glad we didn't have dogs, I'm sure I would have had to pull a few from their feet.

That's it for the campground pictures, we drove around on Sunday to a couple of historic ranch sites and to the Bighorn Canyon, I'll post about them on another day since it will be another picture heavy post.

Well, it seems that the 2018 camping season has come to a close for the hubs and I here in South Central Montana. 

All the freezable items have been removed, the tanks and water heater have been drained, the water lines blown out, and RV antifreeze has been added to the vacation home. 

We still need to remove the batteries and put them in the basement, the hubs isn't looking forward to that since those 12 volt batteries are big and heavy and there are 4 of them.
