Small's SAL update for March

Hello Everyone
It's time for the March update of the Small's SAL.

I've been doing quite a bit of stitching that I keep forgetting to take pictures of and since I am amazingly slow in the finishing department you get to see the before and hopefully here soon the after in another post.

First off I stitched my Love Love design, you can find the chart here: Love, Love Design.

 "Love Love"
Designed By: Sandra Longan
I stitched this on an unknown piece of mauve evenweave, it's real thick with an almost felted back. I picked it up in a second hand store several years back and have never figured out what it is called. I used all DMC threads and some charms and buttons that I've gotten over the years. The fabric will be the backing and as of now it will be made into a wall hanger.
I've also gotten the bug to do Hardanger again and since it's been a while I started out small.

The fringed piece will be a pin pillow when finished, the multi colored piece will most likely turn into a scissor fob and the piece on the Ribband will be a jar or can wrap with fabric flowers in red, white and blue.

The two Hardanger pieces were stitched with no pattern just looking in my Hardanger book for a refresher update on the stitches used, on 28 count evenweave using DMC Color Variations and Mill Hill beads for the aqua piece and for the other Caron Wildflowers in Carnival. The Ribband piece was also stitched with no pattern and stitched on 14 count 1 inch Ribband using Caron Wildflowers in Night Sky and Chili, DMC B5200 and DMC Variegated Yellow. I didn't put stars on the flags since I couldn't get the colonial knots to look right.

Well that's it for this post, so until next time .........

Thank you for stopping by and do come again.

A Bit of This and A Bit of that and 2014 Smalls SAL Update

(Started writing this post on December 31, 2014)
2014 is coming to an end, it seems way to soon. The year just seemed to fly by.
Well, I thought it was great to see my yard again, but it started to snow on Christmas Eve and didn't quit until late Christmas Day and again yesterday so we added another 9" of that annoying white crap a.k.a. snow to the yard.

This is the dogs yard and the top pic has a 12" ruler sticking out of the top.

The snow wasn't bad enough we also got hit with single digit temps and Wednesday our furnace decided it has had enough of heating the house. Thank God for my hubs and I being prepared for emergencies, we have the choice of two Kerosene heaters or six plugin heaters or the wood stove to heat the house. I chose WOOD STOVE!! toasty warm. Hubs trouble shot the heater on Thursday night and it's up and running again.

We started re-doing our kitchen the day after Christmas and have a new range and a couple of cabinets being delivered on Monday. The cabinets couldn't fit in the jeep. We put up half of the ceiling, the upper cabinets and a new ceiling light. I'll get before and after pics up after our new range is delivered.

Last but not least, and it is definitely late, here is my final 2014 Smalls SAL update for 2014.

"Prim Christmas Wishes"
Designed By: Me, Sandy Longan
Stitched on 28 count white Monaco (Lugana) using DMC threads then Coffee dyed and distressed using instant coffee granules. Added some country fabric, coffee dyed Cluny lace and ribbon to finish it off.

Well that's it for today, I'm off to do a ton of dusting and then rearranging my craft room so we can fit the bar cabinet in here since it can't be in the kitchen anymore. It looks like it might turn into my new sewing cabinet with an added fold-down table when the hubs gets around-to-it. So until next time....stay warm (were expecting low temps and more snow for the next three or four days), be prepared for emergencies, and have a very Happy and Prosperous 2015.

2014 Smalls SAL

OK, with screwing up my back shoveling snow on Wednesday and lots of quality time with my heating pad then Thanksgiving and more quality time with my heating pad, I totally spaced on the 2014 Smalls SAL on the 26th.

"Merry Christmas 2014"
Designed By: Me
Stitched on 28 count Grey Blue evenweave using DMC threads, #4 Kreinik to outline the snow, Mill Hill Petite beads in red, white and blue and three gold stars for the tree tops.

Didn't know which picture to use, neither one seems to show the Kreinik or the beads and stars very well. Maybe after I finish it as a wall hanging or framed they'll show up better.

Well that's all for today everyone, I hope all that celebrated had a great Thanksgiving, ours was quite with only the big guy and I. Our dogs each got a Thanksgiving bowl with ham, smashed potatoes and gravy, deviled eggs, stuffing and veggie. they were very happy boys.

2014 Smalls SAL

It's a day past time for my 2014 Smalls SAL, so here it is ......

"Silent Night"
Designed by me, stitched on 28count hand-dyed Evenweave using DMC threads.
This will be made into an ornament for the tree or wreath. Which ever get's put up this Christmas.

I've been in a very "Primitive Backwoods Cabin" kind of mood as of late so most of the pieces I'm designing and stitching are in that mode. I have been enjoying coming up with all of the Pine Trees, Pine Boughs and Cones and Cabin's though and it does help that our home is a Log Cabin.

Well that's it for today friends.
Thanks so much for stopping by and until next time ......

2014 Smalls Update & 2014 TUSAL Update

I'm calling this one "All Is Calm Cabin"
I designed this one and stitched it up in three days using DMC floss and a piece of 28ct. linen I hand dyed.

Here is my TUSAL for September, more threads and fabric scraps.

That's all for today, thanks for stopping by and until next time.....

2014 Smalls SAL Update

Here is my 2014 Smalls SAL update for August.
I seriously can not believe the year is over half-way over, where dose the time go.

I have two stitchin' finishes for August.

First Up:

"Sunflowers & Daisies"
Designed by me and shared here on my blog.

I did make a few changes from the original pattern, which is par for the course for me. I back stitched all the flower heads in dark brown and used an olive gold/green to back stitch the centers of the sunflowers {doesn't show well in the photo). I also added one stitch to the daisy stems and added another row of dirt plus altered the size of the "S's" and the word Daisies.
Yep, all my charts are a work in progress while I'm stitchin' em'.

Next Up:

"Bee's & Sunflowers"
Designed by me as a companion piece to "Sunflowers & Daisies"

Both pieces are stitched on 14 count Aida hand-dyed by me with a light blue and stitched with DMC threads.

That's it for today, thanks for stopping by and possibly leaving your thoughts behind. Each and every one of them mean so very much to me.

2014 Smalls SAL for July

Since I had stitched absolutely nothing last month, I guess a finish finish will have to make do for my Small's SAL this time.

I stitched this piece back in July of 2011

And I have turned it into the pincushion cover for my Ott Light tray.

I have been playing with designs for the pincushion cover, but went with this for now.

Well that's it for today everyone, thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts behind. I truly appreciate  each and every one of them.

2014 Smalls SAL

It's that time again. Time for my 2014 Smalls SAL update.
I stitched another little something that I designed.

It's all about my four legged fur babies this month, and I will hang this in my front door window, since it is sooooo very appropriate.

"Nose Art"
Designed by Me.
Stitched on 28 count linen using DMC threads.
Those are supposed to be dog nose prints, the black for my "Monster" (German Shepard) and the ginger for my little "Jack" (Brittany Spaniel).

 Cody aka Monster

Jack aka Ebenezer (don't know why, but he loves that name)

That's it for today, I haven't gotten much stitchin' done this month, but I have been doing loads of designing. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts behind, I appreciate each and every one of them.

2014 Smalls SAL and 2014 TUSAL updates

Wow, another month has come to pass and it's time for both my 2014 Smalls SAL update and my 2014 TUSAL (Totally Useless Sitich-A-Long) update. Both can be found on my sidebar if your interested.

So, first up is the 2014 Smalls SAL. I had two pieces that I stitched up.

"Right Amount of Crazy"

I found this saying while I was poking around on Pinterest one day.
"My goal is to be just the right amount of Crazy to make everyone else doubt their Sanity"

Stitched it on 28 count cream Evenweave using DMC threads.

"Happy Mother's Day"

This is the Mother's Day gift I posted here on my blog.
Stitched on 28 count evenweave using DMC threads.

Next up is the 2014 TUSAL

I had to squish down the threads a bit, but at least there are more in the ORT jar.

Well that's it for today stitcher's.  Thank you all for stopping by and leaving your thoughts behind, I appreciate each and every one of them.

2014 Smalls SAL Update

Here it is, the last Wednesday in March and time for me to do my 2014 Smalls SAL update.

I'll start with the finish/finish of my "Bee Sunny" Scissor Fob.

 "Bee Sunny"
I ended up making the cording a little short (whoops), but it will still work.

Next up is a new design I did just for St. Patrick's Day.

"Shamrocks Biscornu Scissor Fob"
Designer: Sandra Longan
Stitched on 32ct. cream linen using DMC threads.
I made the cording from three colors of DMC used in the design.
I couldn't find buttons I liked, so I settled for two 5mm Swarovski Crystal Butterflies.

That's it for today, thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your thoughts behind, so until next time.....

2014 Smalls SAL Update !!

It's the last Wednesday of February and time for my 2014 Small Stitch-A-Long update.

Since it's February, I stitched up two Valentine smalls.
First up is my version of the Valentine Freebie I posted for everyone.

I finished this up on Feb. 13th and left it for my DH to find on his keyboard in the morning before going to work.

"Be My Valentine"
Designer: Sandra D. Longan {A.K.A. Sandy In Montana}
Stitched on 28ct. Evenweave lightly hand-dyed by me after stitchin', backed with dark red 14ct. Aida and fringed.
Thread used: 115 DMC Variegated Red {My fave color of floss}
I changed it quite a bit from the original, as I stitched it I just didn't like all of the hearts.

"Love Never Fails"
Stitched on 28ct. Evenweave that was hand-dyed around the outside edges of the design and left to fade inward to give a slightly aged look to the piece.
Thread used: Light Mauve and Dark Mauve hand-dyed threads, dyed by me and DMC variegated #53.

Were getting a two day warm up into the 30's before it crashes back down into the single digits. We go shopping on Saturday and it's going to be -5 degrees, time to pull out my thermal under's and down coat.

That's it for today, thank you so much for stoppin' by and leaving your thoughts behind.

First Stitchin' Finish of the Year !!!

Oh My GOD !!! I have a stitchin' finish.

I joined the 2014 Smalls SAL so this is my January finish.
There's a link on my side bar.

Yes dear cabin fans I have actually been stitchin' for the last two and a half days.
I stayed up until 1:30 am the first night when I started stitchin at 10:30 pm, I was enjoyin' it so much that I didn't even realize what time it was.

It did take me about an hour to get back into my stitchin' mode, I kept pickin' up the magnifier to make sure all of my stitches were goin' in the same direction.

Found out I'm goin' to need to pick up a pair of reading glasses to stitch with from now on, my magnifier was givin' me fits tryin' to get it in just the right position and such with the light and my prescription glasses are for distance so are of no help at all.

Anyway here are the fruits of my labor.

BEE SUNNY
By: Sandra Longan Designs
{Yep, designed and stitched by yours truly}
Stitched on 28ct. Mushroom evenweave from M.C.G. Textiles using DMC threads.

This will be finished into a Scissor Fob.
I have also designed a Needle Book, Box Topper, Scissor Case, & Pin Cushion to make a complete set.

I've also been goin' through my W.I.P's {I have four of them} to get all of their threads and charts in order, so I can stitch on them from time to time. I am hopin' and prayin' that this is the start of my stitchin' mojo comin' back.

Take Care & Happy Stitchin' Everyone !!!
