TUSAL Update

I'm starting to think that I should change the name of my blog to "A Day Late and A Dollar Short" seeing as I have a hard time with posting on time for the TUSAL and the 2015 Smalls SAL. Oh well, at least I get them posted.

Here are my ort piles for the month. Been making felt leaves, tomato and strawberries.

The ort jar is getting rather full.

Found these DMC threads at the thrift store.
Got 45 floss for .20 each and two Pearl Cotton for $1 each.

I'll post some of the things I've been making instead of stitchin' later on. Thanks for stopping by and having a peek into my simple life.

2015 TUSAL for May

This one snuck up on me since the months just seem to wiz by.
So here is my TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long) for the month of May.

My little ort pile on the right and my much larger fabric pile on the left.

When I first posted a sewing/crafting fabric ort pile I had said that I wasn't going to save the piles after taking pictures of them, but I'm sure glad that I decided to save them. I have been able to use scraps from those piles to make some 1" and 1 1/2" fabric flowers and some small leaves from the felt scraps.
Never underestimate the reuse potential of anything. The large yellow piece on top of the pile has hot glue on it around the edge, so no hope for that piece, but I did get three other small flowers from the rest of it.

Well, that's it for this post. So until next time.......

TUSAL Update Among Other Things

Only a day late with this months TUSAL Update.
So ...... lets start there.

Here's my stitchin' entry.

And here's my sewing/craft entry.

These are the reason I've been having so many fabric scraps.
I have lots more cut out and ready to put together for adding to other prim and country pieces or just on branch stems.
The flowers, leaves and pumpkins are super quick and easy, except for the pumpkin stems wrapped in jute, which took a bit and those two darn butterflies (rose/mauve colored on the left) which were a bit of a pain to get right. The yellow pumpkin is hand-dyed and the cream pumpkin is coffee stained and dyed, still need to get some wired hemp or jute for the curly tendrils on the pumpkins.
When you have no primitive or country shops in the area ya just gotta make it yourself.

Did a bit of canning weekend before last.

Five quarts of very pretty and yummy Four Bean Salad.
Love adding home canned foods to our pantry, helps cut down on a lot of the stuff we would normally buy on a shopping trip. Best thing is we know exactly what were putting into it, no mystery ingredients or things you can't pronounce.

Started lots of herb seeds for my herb garden that I plan to have this year. Basil, Oregano, Dill, Rosemary, Spearmint, Peppermint, Parsley, Cilantro, and Garlic Chives so far. Then some Sunflowers and two types of Lavender. Planted Banana Peppers, Beets, Radishes and Cucumber seeds in the garden this weekend. Hopefully they sprout and the deer don't eat them.
Bought two cold hardy Blueberries to plant in the garden, but one has taken some damage as Jack decided that he wanted to take out his spite on one of them, hope it survives since he pulled it out of its pot and broke a branch off dragging it around the backyard then chewed the plastic pot for good measure. He is my least favorite dog at the moment and knows it since he steers clear of me right now.

Well, I think I've gone on long enough tonight. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and maybe leave a thought or two behind. So, until next time......

2015 TUSAL Update

Thanks to a nasty case of the FLU I'm three days late with my update this month.
I did way more sewing and playing with fabric than I did stitchin' this time around, so I have two ort piles to show off.

The massive fabric pile is courtesy of the 10 dusters I made and a few other fabric crafts like the Prim Fabric Flowers and the little fabric Butterflies in the background {found the directions via Pinterest}. Of course I won't be saving all of the fabric orts, I just don't have a jar that BIG, I filled a #10 can for those.  My humble little stitchin' ort pile came from a couple of smalls to be shown later on.

Well, that's it for this post everyone, thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your thoughts behind, I cherish each and every one of them. So until next post......

So here are my threads for this month.
