This one snuck up on me since the months just seem to wiz by.
So here is my TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long) for the month of May.
My little ort pile on the right and my much larger fabric pile on the left.
When I first posted a sewing/crafting fabric ort pile I had said that I wasn't going to save the piles after taking pictures of them, but I'm sure glad that I decided to save them. I have been able to use scraps from those piles to make some 1" and 1 1/2" fabric flowers and some small leaves from the felt scraps.
Never underestimate the reuse potential of anything. The large yellow piece on top of the pile has hot glue on it around the edge, so no hope for that piece, but I did get three other small flowers from the rest of it.
Well, that's it for this post. So until next time.......
Take Care & Happy Stitchin'
Hugs, Sandy
Oh that is awesome about keeping a fabric ORT pile. I used to save all my little bits of scraps but now after moving so many times with the military I've had to quit saving all those scraps....unless they are big enough to use again.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very impressive Ort pile growing there :-)... I save my fabric orts too for use in other projects. I am making a postage stamp quilt so 1 inch pieces don't go to waste. A solution to remove the hot glue from the fabric: toss the fabric in the freezer over night and the glue should peel off easily, works most of the time. Hapy Stitches to you
ReplyDeleteBoth your ORT piles are looking good. You've been busy!
ReplyDeleteI've only got thread piles and I'm still not sure why I've been saving them, but I've done so ever since I've been doing the TUSAL. It is kind of nice to be able to compare year to year (although, again, I'm not sure why...must be a latent pack-rat gene!).
ReplyDeleteGreat ort piles :-)
