TUSAL for August

Not much happening on the stitching front.
I did do a good bit of sewing on our last camping trip to the Bighorn Mountains and my ORT pile is from that trip.

Of course I unknowingly deleted the pictures of my sewing machine setting on the table in our 5th wheel and the beautiful view I had while sewing in the mountains.

Here is a shot of where we were camped.
I was able to use my sewing machine while we boondocked thanks to our 1000w inverter running off of battery power. We also plugged the generator into the shore power line and I was able to sew and use my iron. The iron draws 1200w and would be to much for the inverter.

Next up will be the pictures from both Bighorn trips.

Stitchin' & TUSAL

Hello Again Everyone!

I haven't done a TUSAL update since May, so here is what I've accumulated since then.

Not a lot of thread ORT's, i've only been stitching during our camping trips.

What I have been doing most is getting hanging organizers ready to sew up and post on an upcoming Etsy shop by the end of the month. It's a bit scary but I received a tremendous amount  of interest after posting a pic on a couple of RV groups.

Lots & lots of fabric pieces, and there are more that I set aside for making fabric flowers, mini pot grabbers, and skillet handle covers.

Here is the stitching I got done while on our last camping trip.

Two more bookmarks and two future magnets for the RV fridge.
DMC variegated, colorist, and GAST threads. All my own designs.

I'll show some pic's of what I've gotten sewn up after I get several more finishes. Were going camping again soon and I'll be taking my sewing machine and iron, along with the table top ironing board so I can get some more sewing done.
Until next time.......

TUSAL Update for April

I'm late once again with my TUSAL update, oh well, so goes life.
I'm still working on getting more of my "for sale" item's together and getting pic's taken.

Once again there are no floss ORT's just sewing threads and fabrics.
Been to busy sewing and fabric crafting to stitch.

Here are all of the ORT's that I have collected over the years.
They are going to be thrown away since I have no real reason to keep them and they are using up a perfectly good half gallon jar.

I will not put these out for our feathered friends, since I have seen a bird hanging dead from a nest by a piece of string and one caught up on a branch that was unable to fly away, it also had died. So better to be safe and let them find dried naturals and not risk their lives. Just my opinion.

TUSAL for February

Welcome to all my Dear Friends & Followers;
We may have missed the Polar Vortex here in our little piece of southern Montana, but we just got a major cold snap that has our highs in the single digits and our lows below zero. Hopefully it will warm back up later in the week like the weather person says it will.

It's time for the February edition of the 2019 TUSAL.
What is the 2019 TUSAL?
Click on the link below to find out.

Here are my ort's from January 7th to February 4th.

Not a lot of stitching got done, I was more focused on doing some more designing.

Well, that's all for this post, so until next time.....

January 2019 Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long

It's back, the Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long (TUSAL) for 2019 if you want to know what it's all about and even join in you can click the link.

Here are my first ORTS for 2019.
Ended up with a new jar when I couldn't find my jar from last year in the carnage that is my craft room.

Not a whole lot of bits and pieces, but I've only been stitching my little snowflakes. They are just blues, white, silver, and iridescent.

Took a picture this afternoon of all of my 2018 ort's and then what I have collected over the years. That's a whole lot of uselessness.

I'll do a post next on all of the pieces I stitched in 2018, I just need to get them all together and take pictures. I'll have a few I never got around to posting about.

TUSAL for December

Hello Dear Friends & Followers;
Hope everyone is doing well.

Well here is my very tiny ORT offering for the end of the year.

Not very much stitchin' going on since the end of October.

But I have been in a fabric sort of mood since mid November and have been getting the hanging organizers for tents and pop-up campers cut out, getting potholders and trivets cut out and of course making not one but two snow people.

So here is my sewing scrap/ort container.

It's an old popcorn tin from Walmart.

That's it for today.
Thank you so very much for stopping by.

TUSAL Update and some Stash

Hello Everyone; I hope all is well with you.

I almost forgot about my TUSAL for November.

Not a whole lot, but every little bit counts.

My 55th birthday was on Monday so I decided to get myself a couple of things I've been wanting. I used my Amazon cash that I've been getting for doing surveys online, so there was no out-of-pocket expense for me.

New clothes for my 30+ year old ironing board. I went with a Dritz Pressing Assistant, it will be a help with blocking all of my stitching smalls. I might add more padding under neath for a bit more cush.

Then I picked out a tin filled with 100 of these little clips.
They are just perfect for all of those smalls I need to finish off.
They are 1"L x 3/8"W x 1/2" T and the jaw opens 3/8".
They don't distort the fabric like pins usually do and they hold tight.

I also got the hubs a box of 24 U-NO candy bars, they are his fav.
It has snowed again, it started Monday night and kept falling until Tuesday afternoon. Since the temps have been in the 30's and going to go up to the 40's I don't see it going it away anytime soon.

I'm using my laptop once again minus the battery, still haven't gotten a replacement, found one in Billings for $120, but if it works plugged in and I don't intend to take it anywhere, I'm ok with it just the way it is for now.
That's it for now, thank you all for stopping by.

October TUSAL Update

I totally spaced on the TUSAL update for October.
Better late then never.

Here they are all secure in their jar.
Not a lot but I didn't really stitch an awful lot during September.
Only managed the three smalls I posted for the Smalls SAL.

Their all wild after getting out of the jar.
Had to shake the jar to get them all out.

That's it for my ORT report.

"The Laptop Chronicles"
I got the laptop back on Tuesday and started it up only to have it shut itself back off after a minute or two. The longest I could keep it running was a few hours on Wednesday then it would shut back down. It kept having a pop-up saying the battery was very low, and when I checked the battery icon it would read 0% battery, plugged in, not charging. Which can be a common occurrence, I've read, with Windows 10.
The hubs got it to stay running long enough to do a few diagnostic tests and found that everything was working right but the battery was toast. Don't know how they missed that at the shop, but maybe it was behaving while they did their upgrades and fixes. That set us back around a $100 dollars.
The hubs took it with him so he can see if he can find out what type of battery it needs, he tried on-line but got so many different search results for my laptop he got tired of looking.

Moral of the story:
Don't leave your laptop sit for a year without plugging it in to charge at least once or twice a month.

Still sorting through all of the camping and side trip photos, should be done with them by the weekend.

That's all for today friends, so until next post......

Time For The ORT Update

It's time for the TUSAL update for September, only three more updates to go.

So, without further jibber jabber.......

Campin' ORT's on the left Home ORT's on the right.
There are quite a few fabric threads in the mix, just can't keep that white evenweave from raveling without stitchin' the edges or using fray check.

Here's a shot of 9 months worth of ORT's. don't know what I'll do with them all after the year is over.

That's all for this post. Thank you all so much for stopping by, having a look around and leaving your thought's behind, I appreciate each and every one they keep me motivated.

August TUSAL

Hey Everyone,
It's ho,tter than Hades here in Montana up to 100 today.
Oh how I hate the summer heat. I'm more than ready for the Fall to show up.
But then comes Winter and you all know how much I just love (insert sarcasm) that white four letter word.

It's time for my August TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long) you can find a link on my sidebar.

Here they are, camping ORT's on the left, house ORT's on the right.

And out of their containers.

That's all for the ORT Report.
Until next time......

TUSAL for July

Hello Everyone, I can't believe it's already July it always seems that the year passes quicker and quicker.
It's been in the upper 90's so far this month but still going down into the upper 50's and mid 60's for over night so at least it cools down some. Yes, the air conditioner has been a good friend of mine.

Thank you all so much for your kind and healing comments, we both really appreciated them.
I'm healing up fine just have bruises to fade away and the spot on my elbow is getting smaller. The hubs will be 4-6 weeks for the bruised ribs to heal and since he is back at work I'm leaning more towards the 6 weeks. He starts spending quality time with the heating pad as soon as he walks in the door.

Now on to the TUSAL update for July.....
You can find a link on my sidebar, just scroll down.

My little jar got over half full this time around. I think I need to pop it in the dishwasher, it's starting to look a bit grubby.

Lots of greens and browns, but also some from the new DMC Coloris threads that I picked up at Michael's. I found a list on line that gives you the corresponding DMC solids for Coloris and Color Variations at www.needlenthread.com

I found the large jar with around 10 years of ort's in the back of a cabinet in my craft room, so I thought I would share a picture of it along side my total for 2018. That is a whole lot of threads. Eventually I know I will either throw them out or ..... maybe I will get one of those gallon sized Ball mason jars and keep them in there. I love the mason jar idea.

I'm still trying to decide on the scissor fob design to share. I love the patchwork heart with the saying Stitchin' is in my Heart, but the bee's are so cute and I also have one with stitched buttons all over and one with an antique sewing machine, so many choices. Maybe if I quit playing with the designs I'll come up with a decision.

Well, that's it for today everyone, thank you so much for stoppin' by and maybe leaving a thought or two behind. Until next time.......

TUSAL Update for June

Hello Friends; Hope you are all doing well.

It's time again for the TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long) update for June.
I have quite a few ORT's this time around since I am working on one of my designs and am tweaking the colors and rearranging placement as I stitch.
My CS program can only show me so much and the colors are never true for floss and fabric.

13 June 2018 TUSAL
I almost filled the jar.
The bottom part with the white and violet/blue is from our camping trip and the rest (browns and greens) is from my latest design which will be a bellpull with lots of pine trees and a Robert Frost poem.

Lot's of pickin' stitches this week.

I'll need to start compacting the threads down soon.

Well, that's all for today so until next time.......
Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts behind.

TUSAL Update for April

Hello Everyone, hope all is well with you.

Well, it's that time again, time for my TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch A Long) update.
I've been doing quite a bit of stitchin' on a Bread Cover that I'm going to use on our kitchen table in the Vacation Home (aka 5th Wheel), but I also ended up doing a crap load of froggin'. Oh well, so goes the life of a Needleworker, so without further ado.......

Here they are all tucked away in their jar.

Had to let them out of the jar.

And after 4 months of stitchin' this is what it has amounted to.

Well, that's it for today's post, thank you so much for stopping by the Cabin.

TUSAL March Update

☘ Hope everyone has a wonderful Saint Patrick's Day ☘

Now it's time once again for my TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch A Long) update.
If you want to join in just click the TUSAL link on the right side.

"Ort's in the jar"
"Set free for all to see"
And finally my three month's collection.

It's starting to warm up around here and almost all of the snow has melted from the yard, driveway and road, which is AMAZING!!.
The bad side to all of this is when we pull into the driveway we can literally feel the car, truck or jeep sinking in to the overly wet dirt and gravel mix. Guess it's time for us to take the truck down and get a load or two of gravel to add to the driveway, it's been about ten years since we last did this. It's no fun at all to walk across the yard and hear the smoochy sucking sound of your feet in the wet grass.
Check on our vacation home (aka: the 5th wheel trailer) and found that all was in order, no leaks at all even after the roof being covered in almost a foot of snow for a month or better. The hub's bought Eterna Bond tape to seal the seam and around the vents and air conditioner it's supposed to be the best for keeping the roof water tight. Got to keep up the maintenance on it if want to have years of great camping.

Well, that's it for this post, so until next time .......

February 2018 TUSAL Update

Baby it's COLD outside right now only about 18 degrees F and we got between 10-12 inches of that fluffy white crap dumped on us over night, but it sure does have a calm beauty about it. Still can't wait until it melts though.💙

Taken from my front porch at 8 something A.M.

Now, on to the TUSAL Update. I didn't have quite as many orts this time around.
I still did my fair share of stitchin' and froggin', there's always froggin' when I work on one of my own designs until I get the colors right.

Floss wrappers and ORT's.

Lettin' the ORT's out of the jar.
My little octagon jelly jar is 2 7/8" wide by 3 7/8 inches tall.

Two months worth of ORT's.
Paula Dean candle jar cleaned out and put to use. I think it's way to pretty not to save.
If you want to join in on the fun, click the 2018 TUSAL link in my sidebar.

Well, that's it for today's post, so until next time .......

Thanks for stoppin' by everyone.

Stitchin' In The New Year

Yep stitcher's, you heard right, I have started stitchin' in JANUARY of 2018. I finished off two smaller pieces and stitched new two other small's all of which I designed.

But for today I have my TUSAL update for January.
You can click the TUSAL link above or the link on my sidebar to join in the fun.

 Threads in the jar.

Threads in all their glory.
It's surprising how many threads one can accumulate when you try to stitch a piece three different times and hate it on the first two tries.

I'll post two of my finishes in the next couple of days, but am saving the new finishes for my 2018 Smalls update later in the month.

So until next post......
