Here is my first finish of 2011.
Blackbird Sampler
by Sandy (little ol' me)
Stitched on 16ct. Aida hand-dyed by me using my own hand-dyed threads.
I think I stitched it in February.
This is a new piece I started at the end of March.
It's a SAL with The Stitch Specialists yahoo group.
There are 16 parts to this SAL, parts 1-7 are shown in this picture.
A new part is released every Friday by Abi.
I am loving this design, it uses bunches of different specialty stitches, so far there have been cross stitch, Smyrna cross, colonial knots, eyelets, rice stitch, padded stitch, & Jerusalem stitch with beads added to a few of the sections.

Design: Tree of Stitches
Designer: Abi
Stitched on 28ct. sponge-dyed evenweave in Light Blue using my own hand-dyed threads in Black Walnut, Burnished Leaves & Pryor Mountain Sage, so far.
I'm trying really hard to get the pictures of my threads to come out right, the colors always seem to be off. It's so annoying.
Thanks for stopping by I really do appreciate all of your visits & comments.
Take Care & Happy Stitchin'
Hugs, Sandy
I love your blackbird sampler Sandy, it is a lovely design. Your tree is growing nicely too.
ReplyDeleteVery Very nice!
ReplyDeleteThe blackbird sampler is gorgeous! I love both the design and the dyejob on the Aida! The new project looks really intriguing too.
ReplyDeleteLovely. I enjoy specialty stitches too.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty finish Sandy! I love the colours!
ReplyDeleteYour Tree of Stitches is lovely too. I haven't tackled all that many specialty stitches yet. Too chicken, lol!
How pretty. I love the birds.
ReplyDeleteSandy, is Blackbird Sampler available for sale? It's perfect.
ReplyDeleteGreat finish and that SAL you are doing looks fantastic but quit the challenge!

Congrats on your finish. Your Tree of Stitches looks Great!
ReplyDeleteSandy, it's beautiful! Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your finish, looks great. Your Tree is coming along wonderfully, I've still got my Jerusalem section to do.
ReplyDeleteLove the tree! Try taking your pictures in natural sun light. I found that the flash always washes out colors. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWow - I love this design - its beautiful x
ReplyDeleteBlackbird sampler is great, like the fabric and thread you died. The SAL looks nice as well, not as bright as some of the others I have seen, but more like a real tree.
ReplyDeleteCool SAL piece but I think the specialty stitches would scare me off. Just not comfortable with them and really not motivated to become so. Maybe I'm just lazy?
ReplyDeleteCute finish too!
Love the Black Bird! Your tree of stitches looks great!
ReplyDeleteYou are very talented & do beautiful work. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love your finish I have become addicted to Blackbird Designs and think it's so cool that you used your own handdyed floss and fabric. Love the tree to nice to try new stitches.

Sandy, great to hear from you again! I love your new blackbird sampler. It's worthy of selling, along with your threads and fabric. I also love the Tree of Stitches and have seen it on Karen of Sunshine Stitches' blog also.
ReplyDeleteThe Blackbird Sampler turned out very nicely, Sandy, it's lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove the design and finish! Nice SAL stitching, too. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely finish and like the SAL as well.

Congrats on your first finish for the year. I am partial to samplers--it is beautiful.

Congrats on your Blackbird Sampler. The colors are really nice.
ReplyDeleteYour Blackbird Sampler looks gorgeous. The tree design is lovely as well.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first finish and using your own dyed materials is great! Your tree looks so different from the other pictures I have seen. Most have been multicolored, yours looks much richer!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first finish and so great that you used your own threads and dyed material. Your tree looks much "richer" than some other WIP pictures I've seen that are using multi colors!
ReplyDeleteLovely stitching and it looks like your threads are wonderful! I love the blackbird sampler and you must be proud to have done this all by your self. Sounds like you have a little bit of the "Little Red Hen" mentality and that is a good thing!
ReplyDeleteHappy Stitching!!!!
I love your Blackbird Sampler!! I too am stitching the Tree of Stitches, but have fallen behind. Yours looks great!
