July 19th trip to the Pryor Mountains

We took another trip into the Pryor Mountains on the 19th and DH didn't check the weather, so a storm had moved in and soaked the mountains for a slip-sliddin' good time and a filthy Jeep. Still had a nice drive with lot's of wild flowers blooming and getting to see a few of the wild horses that roam around up there.

The horses are descendant's of the original horses brought by the Spanish to the New World.

To keep the heard healthy the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) does treat any of the injuries the horses get and they have an adoption program for some of the horses to keep the heard manageable. You have to follow STRICT guidelines set by the BLM to be able to adopt one of the horses including letting the BLM come to your property to do regular welfare checks on the horse(s). Failure to follow them results in the BLM taking the horse back and you not being allowed to adopt another and they will also take legal action. These horses are very well protected by the BLM and the state. Wish I had the property for one or two.

Dinosaur Track's & Archeology Site's

On the July 4th weekend we took our second trip into the Big Horn Mountain's in Wyoming but there was no mud covered Jeep at the end of this trip.


One of the places we stopped at was the "Red Gulch Dinosaur Track Site" Where there is a stretch of solidified beach that has dozens of dinosaur tracks and you can look for clam fossils in the earth wall next to the site, people that go out there after a good rain fall can find ones that have been washed out. There are volunteer's there to tell you about the site.



Another place we stopped was the Medicine Lodge State Archeology Site. There is a visitor's center, nature trails, and hundred's of petroglyph's and a few pictograph's. (Click the pic's for a better view.)

A Stitched Gift For Donna

Donna has received the two ornaments I stitched up for her and put in my last blog update so I can now post the picture of the angel that I made for her and sent along as a little surprise/RAK. I for one feel that she truly is an Angel for the American Cancer Society for all the work that she is doing. Yellowstone National Park - June 27, 2009

On Saturday June 27th we went to Yellowstone, this was my second trip, but DH first trip and according to him it will not be our last. It is all just so breathtakingly beautiful there you really don't want to leave. We got to see Buffalo, Elk and my first ever Black Bear up close. It was a great vacation week for DH and me with at home down time in between to recharge. You can see all of the pictures we took in my Yellowstone Park album in Webshots. Old Trail Town - Cody WY - June 23, 2009

Before my three hour stay in HEAVEN aka: the LNS, we stopped at Old Trail Town in Cody. What a collection of old west memorabilia they have there, it was fun to look around and be taken back in time.
